We were there last year a week after mid-autumn festival. It's a nice place, as we already live in the south we do not get impressed with the palm trees and warm weather. The beaches are so so, we stayed in a resort with private beach that was pretty clean, cannot speak for the water though.  The city itself is small, doesn't stand out from other Chinese cities. I think worth a visit, but in my mind only an extended weekend, as there is really not that much to do.
